Catholic ,catholics, catholics, there seems to be always a trick up your sleeves. Now I'm not catholic, but for some reason they (Catholics) always find a way, or a reason to drink beer! I don't know what it is, but it seems like that. In Munich right now, people are putting down their favorite meats and snacks for lent. Yes, beer. But this beer is much stronger than "Ya regegular ol brew!" This is Starkbier!
It seems that in the 16th century Bavarian monks decided to drink beer during lent since Algol was not on the strict regulations for fasting. the beer helped with the monks empty stomachs, so one year they decided the spice it up, and make it more stronger! And stronger it was making it easier to fast during the lent period. So catholics beer drinkers in munich are switching to Starker this year for lent.
Beer is such a wonderful drink for ADULTS! And it always fun to learn something new about beer, the history in all, so for all you beer drinkers out there, this ones for you!!!

Riesch takes gold!!!
Maria Riesch (German) took the gold medal away from the highly favorite American, Lindsey Vonn. Riesch took gold in the super-combined in a world champ fashion. Her friend and rival, Vonn, who won the gold in the previous downhill event two days earlier crashed as she headed down the bumpy hill securing Riesch first gold medal in her career.
Before Riesch started her attempt she had to wait as the two previous skiers crashed in their runs. After a sub-par performance yesterday, Riesch knew she had to perform better if she wanted to take home her first gold, and the country's first gold medal in downhill skiing since 1998. "I knew I was on the money today unlike yesterday, when I was really nervous," said. "I felt an inner calm." And that inner calm payed off for her as she attempts for another gold in the Super G event in the closing days.
The winter Olympics does not get the praise as much as the Olympics (summer). But it is just as much as exciting as the summer Olympics. anytime where you have individuals competing for their own nation, not for themselves but for their country, to prove to the world why their country is better than the rest. these athletes go through training that is "24-7" around the clock, working their skills to make sure when it's time, they can give it all that they have. And that Ladies and Gentlemen deserves an audience to watch them compete with what the worlds best...

Old Papal document discovered!!
Ahhh, Don't you just love winter cleaning? I'm sure the crew at St. Petri Cathedral do. After cleaning out the archives Birgit Mitzscherlich (the archive director) stumbled upon a old document. A 334 year old document. Also she noticed an unusual mark for the document. a mark that signified one thing--The Pope!
Yes, it seems that old Pope Innocent XI document had slipped away from France (rightful owner) and found it's way into Saxony, Germany. it seems that German soldiers from WW2 confiscated it and brought it to Germany. The crew at St. Petri was unaware of it's presence for some sixty-so years.
Mitzscherlich (archive director) is setting it out for display, for the public, but then is shipping it back to it's rightful owner (France).

the reason I chose this article is because i'm a big history buff, and any old document, ex-specially from a pope, is a very interesting find. And , it also shows you what a little bit of cleaning can do.

Fake Euro's on the Rise!!!
In "The Local," (Germany's News in english) reported a rise in counterfeit bank notes. An eight percent rise as emergered this year in the counterfeiring scam of the euro dollar. With mostly 47% of the counterfeit coming from the twenty dolloar euro. Since 2007 euro counterfeit has steadliy been on the rise. Recently police have seized seven million euro dollars in the southern Campania region.

In the U.S. world of counterfeit money the U.S. hasn't seen a steady increase in counterfeit money. In 2000 the U.S. had it's largest counterfeit year, but since then, it has been on a steady declince, with a small rise in 2004.

The reason why i picked this article, is to aware poeple that scams and fraud are alive and on the rise. Not only here in the states, but also Europe, and all over the world. With the rise of the "internet shopping", it is well known that third world countries train people to scam with money and on the internet. So before you buy, take your time, and make sure it is a legit site!!!
